85 engineering colleges slapped by court

85 Engineering colleges under the Rashtra Sant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University have been questioned for not following the Maharahshtra University Act guidelines.
The supreme court identified 85 engineering colleges and asked the Bombay High Court's Nagpur bench to look into the irregularities of these institutes which allegedly havent even completed 180 days of studies but the university permitted them to allow their students to appear for exams.
As per section 82(1) of Maharashtra University Act, the management must seek permission from the government to open new colleges before last day of October of the preceding year. The government has to grant permission before July 15 of the year in which new college is proposed to be started. None of this was done.
